Named Scholarships

Through the generous contributions of alumni and friends of the Law School, current students are eligible to apply for the following scholarships during the spring semester.

Application instructions are provided by Financial Aid Coordinator Brezetta Steverson.

Alden-Baldy Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1956 by alumni and Christopher Baldy to assist students who, without such help, would be unable to become members of the bar. Second- and third-year students are eligible.

Varkis A. Baligian and Hon. Jacqueline M. Koshian Scholarship

This scholarship was established to assist students who demonstrate outstanding character, financial need and academic excellence. Preference is given to students of Armenian heritage.

Charlotte Cuneen-Hackett Scholarship

This scholarship provides general aid to students at SUNY Buffalo Law School.

Harold A. Dautch Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship, established in 1990 by Cecele Dautch, Arthur M. Gellman and George I. Gellman, provides grants to SUNY Buffalo Law School students who need financial assistance and demonstrate academic excellence in undergraduate or graduate school.

Diversity Scholarship

This scholarship aids members of groups underrepresented in the legal profession. It is based on merit and financial need.

Frederick C. Ebert Scholarship

This annual scholarship is awarded to SUNY Buffalo Law School student who has demonstrated strong commitment to public service and is interested in pursuing a career serving the public interest. The student must also demonstrate financial need and be in good academic standing. In addition, the student should have substantial work experience prior to law school, and should be pursuing a law degree to advance an existing career or to make a career change.

Martin A. Feinrider Scholarship

This scholarship aids a SUNY Buffalo Law School student who has demonstrated financial need and a strong commitment to human rights and/or disarmament.

Jacob D. Hyman Scholarship

The Hyman Scholarship was established in 1994 by Hilary Bradford to provide an annual scholarship(s) to student(s) at SUNY Buffalo Law School who demonstrate financial need, exceptional character and ability, in addition to a strong commitment to professional and community service. Recipients must be graduates of public high schools in the 4th Judicial Department, with preference given to graduates of public high schools in the 8th Judicial District.

John F., Mary A. and Robert J. Lane Scholarship

This scholarship helps students who need financial aid and have distinguished themselves academically.

Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria Scholarship

This scholarship was established to provide assistance to students who demonstrate financial need and academic excellence.

Adelbert Moot Scholarship

This award was established in 1931 by Carrie Van Ness Moot to provide annual scholarships to students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

William M. and Carolyn B. North Scholarship

This scholarship provides general aid to students at SUNY Buffalo Law School.

Joseph P. Peperone Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to second- and third-year students at SUNY Buffalo Law School who are well-rounded and of exceptional character. Preference is given to a graduate of a Western New York high school who has some journalism background.

Thomas A. Rodenberg and Billie Davis Rodenberg Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship provides general aid to students at SUNY Buffalo Law School.

Matthew J. Schnirel Memorial Scholarship

The Matthew J. Schnirel Memorial Scholarship provides an annual scholarship to one or more students in their third year of study at SUNY Buffalo Law School. The scholarship is given to students who have participated in the Law School’s Trial Advocacy program and who are in good academic standing. Preference is given to students who work while going to school, pursue outside activities or do volunteer work.

Hon. Michael A. Telesca Scholarship

Established in honor of Hon. Michael A. Telesca, this scholarship is awarded to a student at SUNY Buffalo Law School who has demonstrated financial need and is in good academic standing.

SUNY Buffalo Law School Scholarship

This award was established by members of the Law School to provide scholarships to students demonstrating financial need and academic achievement.

Jacob Weissfeld Scholarship

This award, established in 1992 by Richard A. Weissfeld, provides an annual scholarship to students exemplifying skills as a trial lawyer and demonstrating financial need.
