Letro Courtroom, 1st Floor, O'Brian Hall, University at Buffalo
Law School
This workshop will address qualitative methods, discuss new technologies
for gathering data, and explore different approaches to collecting,
managing and analyzing the data. The first day of the workshop
should be of interest to a broad audience of qualitative researchers,
especially those dealing with interpersonal violence and institutional
responses. The morning of the second day will feature a presentation
of several manuscripts in progress, followed by discussion.
It has become clear in the recent past that federal grant agencies
are seeking mixed methods approaches to research. It is not enough
to simply state "we will interview subjects." The competitive
grant application process is now requiring that primary investigators
understand qualitative methods and make appropriate use of technology
and statistical methods. This two-day workshop provides an opportunity
to hear from experienced researchers who employ a variety of qualitative
methodologies. Faculty and graduate students are welcome.
