Information for Registered Employers

Thank you for registering for the fourth annual Public Defenders Career Fair on October 29, 2021 hosted by the University at Buffalo School of Law.

We are looking forward to hosting you and connecting you with excellent candidates.

Online Career Fair

1:00 - 5:00 p.m. - The Public Defenders Career Fair will be open to applicants. Employers will meet with candidates via a zoom meeting room with optional breakout sessions for private interviews.

Zoom Links Available:  Each is welcome to use their own Zoom account.  Zoom links are available for those agencies that need them.  Please indicate your preference in your registration or by following up with Lisa Patterson at lpatter@buffalo.edu.

Career Fair ”Rooms”: Applicants to the career fair will be directed to one central online location that will house portals to all the employers’ Zoom “rooms”  They will also have access to one large meeting Zoom room in which to congregate, mingle and ask questions.  Employers are welcome to move among the rooms

You are welcome to be creative in your presentation to the candidates.  As you may have decorated your table during the live career fair, you may also want to explore ways to use Zoom to grab your visitors’ attention.  These may include tailoring your background, providing links to videos (local attractions in your area) and other resources in the chat, sharing websites on your screen, presenting 2-3 minute slide shows, and more.

Private Conversation Space: Each employer’s Zoom room will have the ability to host private breakout sessions for individual interviews with candidates.  You are welcome to reach out to candidates in advance to schedule times for them to interview in your breakout room, or to maintain a waiting list on the day of the career fair.

We recommend that employers intending to conduct formal interviewing in breakout rooms also station a staff member representative in their main room to engage applicant visitors while they are waiting for an interview.

Employer Information Released in Advance: The Career Fair web page will be updated weekly with an updated list of participating employers.  Your office information and hiring needs will be listed for candidates to see.  We will not publicly list the contact information for your career fair contact person nor your interviewers.

Applicant information: As an employer , you will receive a list of registered applicants, including links to their resumes, 7 days before the event, with an update a few days before the event.  This event does not arrange scheduled interviews in advance, but you are free to reach out to candidates to encourage them to visit your room during the event.  You may also consider scheduling times for interviews during the event.
