Oliver C. Young ’80 has been appointed to the New York State Bar Association’s Task Force on Racial Injustice and Police Reform. He is of counsel with Barclay Damon LLP in Buffalo. Young, president of the Bar Association of Erie County in Buffalo, is a past recipient of the UB Law Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumnus Award for public service. He resides in Williamsville, N.Y.
Wm. Dennis Huber ’83 of Plantation, Fla., published the book Corporate Law and the Theory of the Firm: Reconstructing Corporations, Shareholders, Directors, Owners, and Investors (Routledge, 2020). Huber is a professor of accounting, finance and business law at Barry University’s Andreas School of Business, in Miami Shores, Fla.
Victor R. Siclari ’86 has become senior bank counsel with USAA in Pittsburgh. He previously served as associate general counsel and managing director of Bank of New York Mellon in Pittsburgh, where he resides.
Hon. Moses Mark Howden ’91 is a Cattaraugus County and Surrogate Court judge in Little Valley, N.Y. Howden was previously Cattaraugus County Attorney. He is a resident of Olean, N.Y.
Kevin D. Szczepanski ’95, a partner with Barclay Damon LLP, has been named cybersecurity team co-leader in the firm’s Buffalo office. He handles cases involving insurance coverage, business litigation and cyber risks. Szczepanski is a Buffalo resident.
Hon. Lenora B. Foote Beavers ’97 of Buffalo will receive the Women of Influence Award for Public Policy from Buffalo Business First on Sept. 15. She is a Buffalo City Court judge and a past recipient of the UB Law Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumna Award for community service. She is a former president of the UB Law Alumni Association.
Rosanna Berardi ’97 has started a coaching business, High Wire Woman, in Williamsville, N.Y. The business creates solutions and systems for working women. Berardi is founder of Berardi Immigration Law, one of the only women-owned immigration law firms in the Buffalo Niagara region, and immigration counsel with Barclay Damon in the Buffalo office. She is a resident of Lancaster, N.Y.
Sheldon K. Smith ’01 was named to the National Black Lawyers Top 100 Lawyers in New York list. Smith is a partner with Harter Secrest & Emery LLP in the Buffalo, Corning, N.Y., and New York City offices. He is a resident of Orchard Park, N.Y.
Rita Nischal ’04 has been promoted to senior vice president with Canandaigua National Bank & Trust in Pittsford, N.Y. Nischal lives in Fairport, N.Y.
Scott R. Simpson ’05 of Victor, N.Y., has been appointed to the Friendly Home board of directors in Brighton, N.Y. The Friendly Home is a skilled nursing facility offering 24-hour care, rehabilitation, memory care and hospice care. Simpson is counsel in the health care and human services practice with Harter Secrest & Emery LLP in the Rochester, N.Y., office.
David M. Cost ’06 is named in the 2020 Upstate New York Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. He is a partner with Barclay Damon LLP in the Albany, N.Y., office. Cost lives in Watervliet, N.Y.

Jillian M. Mangiafesto ’15 corporate counsel with Five Star Bank in Williamsville, N.Y., was promoted to corporate counsel and assistant corporate secretary. She will provide support for committees of the bank’s board of directors and other governance support. Mangiafesto lives in Lockport, N.Y.
