02/13/2019 - The Buffalo Public Interest Law Program (BPILP) and the Student Bar Association (SBA) hosted our annual Career Fair where more than 130 students met with 50+ employer representatives (including more than 27 alumni) from across the Western New York legal community for an evening of networking.

02/09/2019 - The School of Law hosted the Texas Young Lawyers Association's National Trial Competition, bringing together teams from across the region to compete. The law school’s team of Sarah A. Elardo ’19 and Jacob M. Eckenrode ’19 advanced to the final round but were defeated. Buffalo law students Christina Eaton ‘19, Salvatore M. Prince ’19, and William F. Fitzgerald ’19 were awarded Best Direct Examination. Thank you to team coaches coaches, Elizabeth Fox-Solomon ’06, Sidney Michelle Mosher ‘15, Matthew J. Kibler '09, Sean S. Carberry ‘15, Devon E. It was a busy weekend in O’Brian Hall where we held our annual intramural Charles S. Desmond Moot Court Competition. After five rounds of arguments, the final rounds were judged by Hon. Eugene Fahey ‘84 (N.Y. Court of Appeals), Hon. Jeremiah McCarthy (U.S. Magistrate Judge), Hon. Emilio Colaiacovo ‘01 (N.Y. Supreme Court) and our own Dean Aviva Abramovsky. Congratulations to the winners our 2018 Charles S. Desmond Moot Court Competition Destiny Johnson ’20 and Chloe Nowak ’20. The runners up were Meghan Carrig ’20 and Hannah Rauh ’20. .

10/31/2018 - Defense attorney Brian M. Melber '96 and former U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. ’84 were guest speakers for Assistant Clinical Professor Nicole Hallett’s class, Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility, where they discussed being on opposite sides of the Lackawanna Six trial.

The School of Law hosted the first annual New York State Public Defenders Career Fair, giving law students and recent graduates an opportunity to interview with public defenders offices from around the state of New York.

In recognition of the National Celebration of Pro Bono, the School of Law and the Buffalo Public Interest Law Program (BPILP) is once again celebrating volunteerism by inviting various WNY public interest/sector organizations to participate in Table Days, giving them an opportunity to discuss what their offices do and recruit volunteers, interns or externs. Thank you to the following organizations for participating in this year’s Table Days.
