Law School Launches $30 Million Campaign

Cheerleaders and confetti cannons helped proclaim the $30 million campaign for the SUNY Buffalo Law School launched on Friday, April 26 at Kleinhans Music Hall.

UB President Satish K. Tripathi and Law School Dean Makau Mutua  were among the speakers announcing the law school’s fund-raising theme , “Our Time is Now,” and $30 million goal. Law school officials described the campaign as “the most pivotal undertaking in the school’s history.”

Highlights of the  celebration included alumni standing at their seats  in the audience describing the needs of the law school;  UB cheerleaders performing backflips and other acrobatics; the unveiling of an illuminated campaign sign showing $17 million  already raised for the campaign; and the firing of confetti cannons and a mass-audience waving of pom-poms at the finale.

Campaign co-chairs Thomas E. Black Jr. '79, Kenneth B. Forrest '76, Margaret W. Wong '76 and Francis M. Letro '79 – along with faculty, committee members and students – were on hand to celebrate the campaign kickoff.
