The Harry A. Rachlin (1926) Oral History Project preserves the voices of distinguished members of the UB Law community and will be featured in a new lobby display at John Lord O’Brian Hall, to be unveiled on April 17 at 4:30 p.m.

As the demands of legal practice continue to evolve, UB School of Law is doubling down on the skills that matter. With expanded writing requirements and full‑time faculty dedicated to advanced instruction, the school is giving students more time, more guidance and more practice in the kinds of research and writing they’ll rely on throughout their careers.

Adjunct law professor and environmental attorney Christen Civiletto traces how growing up amid unchecked industrial pollution in Niagara Falls shaped her life’s work. Drawing on personal experience, decades of research, and litigation, the article explores the roots of her mission to uncover environmental injustice and hold corporations accountable, culminating in her forthcoming book "Thundering Waters."

Five alumni of the University at Buffalo School of Law and one non-alumnus—UB’s 15th president—will be honored as the UB Law Alumni Association presents its 2026 Distinguished Alumni Awards. The awards will be presented at a May 7 dinner in downtown Buffalo. Registration details will be announced soon.

Professor Helen “Nellie” Drew accompanies ten UB Law students at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Boston, where they gain insight into emerging issues in sports law while networking with leaders across professional and collegiate sports.

Farina Barth, professor of skills, has co-authored a new guide on New York State bail law that offers practical clarity on bail reform, analyzing Criminal Procedure Law Article 510 and providing practitioners with comprehensive statutory and case law resources.
