Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 20, 2018, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Westin Buffalo (250 Delaware Ave., Buffalo, NY 14202). Cost is $90 per person and includes 2-hour open bar, hors d'oeuvres and stations. Discounted hotel rooms are available.

Highlights from 2008:

  • Professor Makau Mutua was named 18th dean of the School of Law.
  • Professor David Engel created a bridge course taking law students to Thailand.
  • The U.S. Supreme Court rules, 5 to 4, that prisoners at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba have a right to challenge their detention in federal court.
  • The XXIX Summer Olympics were held in Beijing, China.

What your class has been up to...

Kara M. Addelman ’08, of East Amherst, NY, has been elected president of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, Western New York Chapter. She is a partner in the law firm Kenney Shelton Liptak Nowak, in Buffalo.

Priscilla E. Hampton ’08 has been promoted to partner with Perkins Coie in Portland, Ore., where she resides. She is a member of the firm’s environment and natural resources practice, handling cases involving the investigation, cleanup and allocation of liability at contaminated sites, including state-led cleanups and federal Superfund sediment sites. 

Ryan M. Murphy ’08 has been promoted to partner with Hodgson Russ in Buffalo. He concentrates his practice in the area of employee benefits. Murphy lives in East Aurora, N.Y. 

Daniel J. Pautz ’08 has been promoted to partner with Bond Schoeneck & King in the Syracuse, N.Y., office. Pautz practices litigation including toxic tort and environmental litigation. He is a Syracuse resident.

Joshua E. Dubs ’08 of North Tonawanda, N.Y., received the VIP Award from the Erie County Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project in Buffalo. Dubs ’08 and Daniel F. Webster ’08 have formed a new firm, Webster & Dubs, P.C.  They will maintain the general law practice in Buffalo. Dubs is a director of the UB Law Alumni Association and a past chair of the GOLD Group.

Nicholas J. Tardif ’08 has been named director, business & legal affairs – litigation at Universal Music Group in New York City. He manages civil litigation and intellectual property enforcement. Tardif was previously corporate counsel with Elsevier, Inc., in New York City. He resides in Brooklyn, NY.
