Summer Public Interest Fellows 2025

How would you describe your experience?

My experience this summer has been extremely rewarding. Not only have I been immersed in various legal practice areas, but I have also been able to work with clients, help draft motions, witness a trial, and more. Legal Services NYC as a whole serves low-income individuals throughout NYC for a wide variety of matters. I was able to work on tons of projects, touching on many of the practice areas within the Brooklyn office that allowed me to broaden my scope and knowledge in the legal field.  I also was able to collaborate with my fellow interns and bond with them over our work and the law school experience.

What impacted you the most?

What impacted me the most was being surrounded by passionate legal professionals each day. All of the attorneys and staff I worked with care so much about their clients and the work they do. Being able to learn from them and work with their clients has been so rewarding. This work reminded me why I wanted to go to law school and showed me how important this work is to our communities and the people within them.

What would you like to share with our donors?

I want to thank the donors to the University at Buffalo Law Alumni Association Fellowship. This fellowship has allowed me to explore new areas of law, immerse myself in the legal community in NYC where I plan to move upon graduation, and build connections with law students and legal professionals. I have learned so much this summer that I will take with me back to Buffalo and into my future career. Your generosity has helped ease the financial burden of living and working in NYC. It has helped me verify that this is where I see myself in the future. This experience was more than I could have ever imagined and I am so thankful I was able to take part in this internship program with the help of this fellowship.
