Virginia A. Leary Memorial Fund for Human Rights
Virginia A. Leary, SUNY Distinguished Service Professor Emerita at the Law School for 19 years, passed away on April 8, 2009, in Geneva, Switzerland, where she had lived since retiring in 1995.
The Law School has established the Virginia A. Leary Memorial Fund for Human Rights to honor and memorialize a beloved and revered member of its faculty. Professor Leary was a pioneer in human rights, an outstanding scholar and a dedicated teacher.
A committee of Professor Leary's friends and colleagues developed guidelines for the fund, focusing on law school human rights activities that were important and meaningful to her.
