The local chapter of the world’s largest legal fraternity, Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) Alden Chapter, will celebrate their 50th anniversary at the law school event.
Named in honor of Carlos C. Alden, the fourth dean, the UB School of Law chapter has grown from a modest beginning to become a significant organization under the volunteer leadership of past international justice Ron Winter ‘81, a Confidential Law Clerk to a New York State Supreme Court Justice.
Winter also will be recognized for his service to PAD at the event.
Help us honor SUNY Distinguished Service Professor David M. Engel as he retires after 37 years on our faculty. Prof. Engel’s former students who traveled with him to Thailand will join us to thank him for his service.
As our guest of honor at the upcoming Law Alumni Celebration, Professor Engel will be recognized for his impressive teaching and service career by UB faculty, alumni and students at an awesome party, at The Westin Buffalo. You can imagine how meaningful for him it would be if a significant contingent of his Thai alums were present!
Following on Sunday, Oct. 21, Professor Engel and his wife Jaruwan will host a Thai brunch reunion get-together at their home, just for the purpose of catching up with all the students who traveled to Thailand with them. So plan to stay for the weekend.
Don’t miss out on this reunion weekend.
Alumni from 1986 through 1998 will be delighted to welcome back Aundra Newell Shields as a special honored guest for our reunion celebration.
For 12 years, Aundra served as associate dean for admissions and student affairs. She was in charge of admissions recruiting and supervised the Legal Methods Program, a special academic tutorial program that helped minority students and disadvantaged students advance themselves, their lives and the legal profession.
