About Pamela Davis Heilman

Pamela Davis Heilman has been a longtime leader in cross-border business practice with Hodgson Russ, where she is currently of counsel, Ms. Heilman has played a leading role in the firm’s Canada/U.S. practice, counseling Canadian businesses and organizations considering expansion into the United States. She has also worked to promote the advancement of women in international business, among other roles serving as a director of the International Alliance for Women, an umbrella organization of 39 organizations working to foster the economic empowerment of women.

In Western New York, Ms. Heilman has been board chair of United Way of Buffalo and Erie County. She has also held leadership roles in the Vassar College Club of Western New York, the Kaleida Health Foundation, D’Youville College and its Center for Women in Management, Community Music School and the Housing Assistance Center of the Niagara Frontier.

At the law school, she has served on the Dean’s Advisory Council since 2004 and serves on the steering committee for the school’s ambitious capital campaign. Previously, she chaired the school’s Annual Fund campaign. She and her husband, Robert Heilman, a business consultant and 1975 graduate of UB’s MBA program, recently made a major gift to the law school in support of admissions scholarships for talented potential students.

Her involvement also extends to membership in the UB Council, a group of leaders appointed by the governor to counsel the university president.

About the Jaeckle Award

The Jaeckle Award is given annually to a person who exemplifies the highest ideals of UB School of Law and the Law Alumni Association and has made significant contributions to the school and the legal profession. It is named for Edwin F. Jaeckle ’15, a founding partner of the Buffalo law firm Jaeckle, Fleischmann & Mugel, and a major benefactor of the school.

He was recognized with the 46 Edwin F. Jaeckle Award for his professionalism and service to the university. The award is the highest honor the University at Buffalo School of Law and Law Alumni Association can bestow.

    Hon. Julio M. Fuentes ’75, Sr. United States Circuit Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals, received the 2024 Edwin F. Jaeckle Award, the highest honor the law school and the UB Law Alumni Association can bestow. He has mentored dozens of UB School of Law students and welcomed over 50 of them as summer interns.
