Bar Exam Support

Following graduation is a time of transition where graduates prepare for their bar examination. During this time, the School of Law creates an environment on-campus that is supportive, quiet, and provides resources and assistance to graduates both off- and on-campus.

Library Availability

24/7 Access: Starting on May 22 and continuing through the last week of July, the Law Library will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to UB Law School graduates via the entrance on the 5th floor. 2023 graduates will be able to use their UB swipe cards; and all other graduates studying for the bar exam will be provided with a keycode for entry. Interested graduates should contact William Macdonald (wmacdona@buffalo.edu) to obtain a keycode.

Certain areas of the library will be set aside for specific Bar Prep groups, but all other public areas of the library will be available to graduates 24/7, not just the 5th and 7th floors. Please note that the 4th floor remains closed at all times.

Be Respectful: When studying, please set your cellular devices to silent mode and observe the posted signs on each floor for Silent, Quiet, and Group Study. Use headphones if watching or listening to a Bar Prep video.

Group study rooms, Zoom rooms, and individual study carrels will also be available from the Law Library Service Desk, which will  be staffed weekdays from 8am to 4pm.

BarPrep Groups: Participants in BARBRI and Kaplan who wish to watch lecture videos together will be able to do so on televisions in separate rooms, simulating a classroom experience. Participants in Themis and Helix will be able to watch their videos on their own schedules along with their classmates, if they choose.

Workshops and Bar Courses

Special Sessions: The law school will hold a series of workshops, presentations, and Q&A sessions. These sessions will be available in-person and via Zoom.

All sessions will be held in O'Brian Hall.

These sessions will:

  • provide you with fundamental and advanced test-taking strategies and practice opportunities for the MBE, MEE, and MPT;
  • offer information and suggestions to help you prepare to study efficiently and to get ready for the days of the exam;
  • and give you opportunities to get valuable tips and clarification in bar subjects from some of your most well-regarded doctrinal professors.

Past Presentations: To view past videorecordings and materials, visit UB Box.  Recent graduates can log in using their @buffalo.edu email address.  If you can no longer access UBBox, please contact Professor MacDonald at wmacdona@buffalo.edu.

Meals

The kitchen on the 5th floor  of the library (535 O’Brian) will always be open and stocked with snacks and beverages. A refrigerator and microwave will be available.

The law school has provided a schedule of catered breakfasts and lunches to make it convenient for law students to remain on campus during their studies.

Schedule

Unless otherwise noted, all meals will take place on the 5th floor of the Law Library.

Meal Schedule details will continuously be updated on Twitter and Instagram @UBLawLib!
