About Jonathan S. Beane

Born in Rochester, N.Y., Beane grew up in Chapel Hill, N.C. He attended Dartmouth College, where he majored in history. He knew he wanted to be a lawyer, but took time off and traveled in China. He went to Buffalo for the joint JD/MBA degree so he could understand how business worked.

When he was interviewed in 2015, Beane was executive director, CSR and diversity, at Time Warner (now Time Warner Media) in the greater New York City area. He collaborated with partners across divisions and functions on planning and tracking talent inclusion programs and initiatives.

He said his legal education prepared him to work toward positive change. Beane clerked for North Carolina Court of Appeals Judge Patricia Timmons-Goodson, and earned an LLM in tax at Georgetown University.
