Tasha Moore grew up in a diligent, supportive Christian family in Chicago. Her grandmother was a union representative who inspired Moore’s career. During her undergraduate college years in Florida, she worked as an accountant. Her husband had an opportunity to move to Buffalo. She had a child before she began UB law school.
Moore joined the Army during her undergraduate years. It disciplined her and increased her maturity. Once she left the military, she continued to work hard. Her law class was diverse, and she found it refreshing to be around people of all ages. The professors were welcoming and helpful. Her favorite class was Conflicts of Law. Law school was a job for her and kept her from other extracurricular activities except the Black Law Students Association. When she was at school, her son was at the UB South Campus day care.
Quitting law school to raise her child was not an option. Finishing was the goal. Moore’s mentors encouraged her over the years. Moore made lasting friendships and maintained long-distance relationships. She spent her summers interning with the New York State Division of Human Rights. After law school, she became the regional director for 10 years.
