UB School of Law teams represented Buffalo with distinction at local competitions and across the state. Below is an overview of their outstanding accomplishments:

It was a night of song and celebration as the School of Law’s Trial Advocacy Program held a benefit to raise funds for our trial teams to travel across the country and represent our law school in various competitions. The event also honored Dan D. Kohane '79, Robert J. Cutting '92, Jennifer A. Runfola, Kate Schroeder and Amy H. Atkinson.

Against the backdrop of a contentious national debate over immigration policy and widespread protest over the U.S. government’s treatment of immigrants seeking to cross into the United States from Mexico, a handful of UB School of Law students are poised to provide hands-on help to asylum seekers.

In the shadow of a stark report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change saying the world has only a dozen years to limit the carbon dioxide emissions that lead to global warming, 10 UB School of Law students will participate in efforts to realize that urgent goal.

Like an athlete who has trained for years, UB’s newly established Center for the Advancement of Sport – a major interdisciplinary initiative spearheaded by the School of Law – is ready for the big time.

Indigent criminal defendants will be the ones who ultimately benefit from the first-ever New York State Public Defenders Career Fair, held Oct. 19 at UB’s Center for Tomorrow. The School of Law hosted the event, which brought together more than 110 potential applicants and 30 agencies from across the state, including public defender offices, legal aid societies, conflict defenders, and assigned counsel programs.
