Van Baalen ’82 has been appointed acting U.S. Trustee for Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Region 21, with the U.S. Trustee Program, U.S. Department of Justice, in Tampa. He has served as assistant U.S. Trustee in charge of the office in Tampa and will remain in that position while overseeing Region 21.

Heather Gresham ’96 was elected a vice president of the UB Law Alumni Association. She is counsel and vice president for people and culture with RepresentUs, a political nonprofit based in Florence, Mass. Gresham is a past recipient of the Trailblazer of the Year Award presented at the law school's Students of Color Annual Awards Dinner.
Rosanna Berardi ’97 was elected a member of the board of directors of the UB Law Alumni Association. Berardi is founder and managing partner of Berardi Immigration Law, one of the only women-owned immigration law firms in the Buffalo Niagara region.
William T. O'Connell ’97 was appointed executive director of Neighborhood Legal Services Inc. in Buffalo. He previously served as the regional director for New York and New Jersey, Community Planning and Development, with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Amanda F. McCormick ’01, faculty services librarian at the School of Law Charles B. Sears Law Library, was promoted to associate librarian with tenure.
Elizabeth Fox-Solomon ’06 was named interim director of the Office of Human Rights in Washington, D.C. She most recently served as general counsel.
Richard J. Marinaccio ’07 was elected a vice president of the UB Law Alumni Association. Marinaccio is a partner with Phillips Lytle LLP in Buffalo and a member of the firm’s Canadian Cross Border team.
James O’Keefe ’07 was elected secretary of the UB Law Alumni Association. O’Keefe is an attorney with William Mattar, P.C., in Williamsville, N.Y., and is a lifetime member of the UB Law Alumni Association.
Stephanie J. Calhoun ’08 was elected treasurer of the UB Law Alumni Association. She is assistant attorney general with the New York State Attorney General’s Office in Buffalo. Calhoun is a past recipient of the Trailblazer Award presented at the law school's Students of Color Annual Awards Dinner.
Jeffrey P. Gleason ’08 was elected president-elect of the UB Law Alumni Association. He is a lifetime member of the association and a member with Bond Schoeneck & King PLLC in the Buffalo office.

Yohannes previously served as senior GenAI group product leader, Foundational LLMs for Content & Ads Relevance, with Meta in New York City.

Lang ’23 has joined Barclay Damon LLP as an associate in the Rochester, N.Y., office, concentrating his practice on insurance coverage disputes, including analyzing and litigating complex legal issues. Before joining the firm, Lang was an appellate court attorney for the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department, in Rochester.
