Alumni Mentors Needed

University at Buffalo School of Law and the Law Alumni Association coordinate an annual mentoring program for law students. Experienced practitioners in the Western New York area (attorneys admitted for three years or more) are matched with first-year law students or LL.M. students. The students benefit greatly from the generous commitment of time and expertise offered by members of our local legal community.

We will provide mentors with guidance and convenient online training, so even those who have never mentored before will have all the tools they need to develop a great mentoring relationship.

Matching Reception

Each year, the program kicks off with a social event where mentors and students often meet each other for the first time. This year, a "mentor matching reception" will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Center for Tomorrow on the University's North Campus.

After the event, mentors and students independently coordinate any future contact at their convenience and discretion. If you are not able to attend the event on January 31, you can still participate as a mentor in the program.

To Participate

Complete our online registration form by January 16, 2018. Even if you have completed this form in the past, we ask that you take a few minutes to do so again this year so that we are sure to have the most recent information available.

If you have any questions regarding the program, contact Ilene Fleischmann (fleisch@buffalo.edu or 716-645-7347) or Lisa Patterson (lpatter@buffalo.edu or 716-645-2056). We will assign registered mentors their mentees during the month of January.
