Greetings from Interim Dean S. Todd Brown

2024 Dean Welcome Accepted Students

Interim Dean S. Todd Brown welcomes accepted students to the University at Buffalo School of Law.

Hello, my name is Todd Brown, and I am a professor and the Interim Dean at the University at Buffalo School of Law – the State of New York’s law school.

On behalf of all the faculty and staff here in O’Brian Hall, I’d like to congratulate you on your acceptance to UB Law. It is an incredible achievement, and you should be very proud.

Buffalo is a great place to pursue your legal education. We offer an expansive curriculum taught by outstanding faculty on topics ranging from family law to corporate law, and from criminal justice to environmental litigation.

Outside the classroom, you’ll build the skills you need to be great lawyers and outstanding advocates through our experiential programs and extracurricular activities.

That includes:

  • Our Advocacy Institute, where students learn to command the courtroom and compete in local and national mock trial competitions;
  • Our clinics and practicums that do impactful access to justice work in our community;
  • And our NYC Program in Law and Finance, where students spend a semester in Manhattan, immersed in the world of corporate finance.

Whatever your interest, we’ll help you explore it and pursue it.

Even if you’re not quite sure where to begin, our dedicated faculty and staff will guide you along the way.

And our engaged alumni will coach you, mentor you, and help you launch your legal career. We are all fully committed to your success.

The UB Law community is extraordinary and I’m so pleased to invite you to join us. Congratulations and welcome. We hope to see you soon.
