Western New York Law Fair returns to Buffalo

UB Law to host aspiring law students from across the region

Prospective law students from across Western New York and beyond will visit the University at Buffalo on Oct. 5, when UB School of Law hosts the Western New York Law Fair, a large-scale law school recruitment event bringing together representatives from approximately 50 law schools nationwide.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Center for the Arts on UB's North Campus.  The fair will give aspiring law students an opportunity to explore legal education options, connect directly with admissions professionals and learn more about the many careers a legal education can support.

The event is part of the New York Law School Swing, a series of law school recruitment programs held throughout the state. Organizers say the event is designed to provide a welcoming and accessible introduction to the law school experience while offering attendees practical information about admissions, academics, student life and career opportunities.

In addition to visiting with law school representatives from across the country, attendees may participate in a variety of optional programs throughout the day. Planned sessions include discussions on belonging and community in law school, an inside look at the UB Law experience and a panel exploring the many career paths available to graduates with a Juris Doctor degree. Guided tours of O'Brian Hall will also be offered.

"This is the first law fair of its kind to be held in Western New York since 2019, and the first time UB and the School of Law has hosted an event like this on campus," says Vice Dean for Admissions Lindsay Gladney. "We wanted to create something that goes beyond a traditional recruitment fair by giving prospective students a welcoming, accessible way to explore law school, experience UB Law and begin to see themselves as part of the legal profession."

The event's schedule includes:

  • Belonging in Law School, a discussion focused on support, community and connection in legal education.
  • Inside the UB Law Experience: Faculty, Research, Advocacy, and Student Involvement, highlighting the academic and experiential opportunities available to law students at UB.
  • JD Career Pathways: Where a Legal Education Can Take You, featuring the School of Law's Career Services Office and alumni speakers discussing careers in private practice, public interest, government, business and other sectors.
  • Optional Guided Tours of O'Brian Hall.

The Western New York Law Fair is free and open to anyone interested in exploring law school. Registration is now open and organizers encourage prospective students to register in advance to take full advantage of the opportunity to engage with admissions representatives and learn more about the legal profession and the law school application process.
