"The UB School of Law fosters a more collaborative than competitive environment, which really stood out to me. Everyone here is driven to succeed, but the school recognizes that the legal profession involves collaboration."

The Me Before Law School: I graduated from the University at Albany in 2019 with a B.A. in Psychology. While at Albany, I served as an executive board member of Phi Alpha Delta and Omicron Delta Kappa and was also a member of UAlbany’s Dance Council. I had initially planned to take a gap year before starting my law school journey, but due to COVID, I had to adjust my plans. As a result, I applied to and was accepted into the Master’s in Criminal Justice program at Buffalo State in 2021. While completing my master’s, I nannied for a family with two young girls.

Outside the Classroom: You could often find me in the Student Bar Association office or giving a tour of the law school. I served as Parliamentarian and Vice President for SBA during my 2L and 3L years, respectively. I was also an intern with the Admissions Office during 3L. Additionally, I was a Peer Mentor, a Student and Admitted Student Ambassador, and a member of the Buffalo Public Interest Law Program and the Military Law and Veterans Association. I also TA’d for Professor James Gardner’s undergraduate Law 101 course.

Outside of school hours, I love attending hot yoga at Power Yoga Buffalo, exploring the local food scene—especially in Williamsville—and strolling down Hertel Avenue when the weather cooperates. Also, being a Bills fan in Buffalo is incredible.

Favorite Class: It would be a tie between Contemplative Practice with Professor Luis Chiesa and Trial Technique with ADA Rebecca Schnirel. Trial Technique taught me the basics that I will build my career in litigation on, but Contemplative Practice helped me dig deep into myself and learn practices to help me thrive in a stressful profession.

What I’ll Remember Most: In the spring semester of our first year, my section and I decided to dress up as our LAWR professor, Patrick Long. We ordered bald caps, coordinated outfits, and planned the whole thing to surprise him on April Fool’s Day. I’ll never forget the look on his face when he walked in and saw all of us wearing bald caps.

Who I Am Now & What’s Next: UB School of Law has equipped me with the tools and instilled a confidence in myself that I’m certain will drive my success. I've gained invaluable courtroom experience, sharpened my legal research skills, and expanded my professional network. I’m also grateful to have found a supportive group of friends who have helped me throughout this journey and will continue to do so even after graduation.

I have accepted a job as an Assistant District Attorney with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. I’ll be moving back home and officially settling into the house my fiancé and I bought together in summer 2024. Oh, and maybe doing some wedding planning too!

Why UB School of Law is the Place to Be: I was initially drawn to UB because of its affordability and the positive things I’d heard about the school. But once I got here, it became clear that it was the perfect fit for me. The UB School of Law fosters a more collaborative than competitive environment, which really stood out to me. Everyone here is driven to succeed, but the school recognizes that the legal profession involves working together.

With plenty of opportunities for group study, access to office hours, peer resources, and more, UB provided the support I needed to succeed. This made my law school experience less stressful than I imagined it would be.
