UB School of Law welcomes applications from veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, and National Guard members.
Applying to law school while navigating military education benefits, residency questions, and enrollment certification can involve several different steps. Our admissions team can help you understand the law school application process and connect you with the appropriate UB offices for benefits-related questions.
The University at Buffalo has been recognized as a Military Friendly School Gold level institution for 2026-2027 and a 2025 “Best for Vets” school by Military Times. UB Veteran Services provides support for student veterans and military-connected students across the university.

UB Law students can serve veterans and their families through the Veterans Law Practicum. Under faculty supervision, students gain practical legal experience while assisting veterans and surviving spouses with VA benefits matters, including pension claims, survivor benefits, Dependency and Indemnity Compensation claims, and Character of Discharge determinations.
The practicum has secured more than $300,000 in favorable outcomes for veterans and surviving spouses in its first two years, reflecting UB Law’s commitment to public service and access to justice.
