The School of Law has a clean, private, and comfortable space for those nursing. Use of this room is limited to lactation support.

If the School of Law nursing room (730 O’Brian Hall) is not convenient or is already in use, the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) will also work with students, employees, and members of the UB community to find appropriate space.

For reserving the space, it is encouraged to reserve a room in advance using these methods:

  1. Long-term use: Please fill out the Lactation Support Request form code below. You may reserve / borrow a key from the Office of Student Affairs. Please reach out to law-studentaffairs@buffalo.edu or stop by 206A or 314 in O’Brian Hall.
  2. Short-term use / day of: You may reserve a key from the second floor circulation desk between their hours of operation. The room can be used for a maximum of two hours per session.

Please make sure to have the sign flipped to occupied when in use and flip back to available once you are done using the space. Only one adult may use the space at a time.

A small refrigerator is provided for convenience, but the school is not responsible for ensuring the safekeeping of expressed milk stored in any refrigerator on its premise.

Please use the breastmilk storage bags or your personal containers to store all expressed milk in closed containers, regardless of the method of storage, and to bring such milk home each evening.

The refrigerators will be emptied weekly.

After using the room, please make sure all items are returned to their original locations, all lights are turned off, and that the door is completely shut and locked.

This is not a study space. For studying purposes, please feel free to study within the library or any other location outside of the nursing room.

No loud phone calls are allowed in the nursing room space, as the seventh floor of the law library is a silent floor.

Anything that you bring into the room, please be sure to take with you or throw out in a garbage can outside of the nursing room.

Please do not leave any items in the space unattended. We cannot control the many outside businesses that come into the law library for cleaning, maintenance, etc. The School of Law is not responsible for any missing items.

Please be respectful in using and maintaining the Nursing Room. Please return all furniture to its original location if furniture was moved during use, and please return all items to their appropriate bins.

No School of Law items should be removed even if temporarily.

Cleaning supplies are located within the space.

Do not play loud music inside the nursing room without earphones. If using the noise machine, please keep the volume at a respectable level.

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) can assist you with obtaining nursing accommodations relative to any course or exam work.
