As an assistant district attorney in Erie County for more than a dozen years, Judge Franczyk distinguished himself as a skilled trial attorney, and as a leader, serving as a felony trial prosecutor and as Chief of the Special Investigations Bureau. He prosecuted a number of significant trials, including The People V. Edward Beaufortcuttner where he was matched toe to toe for several weeks against the formidable John Condon. Judge Franczyk’s performance in that trial earned him John Condon’s lasting respect, and lifelong friendship.
A judge for more than 20 years, first in Buffalo City Court and later in Erie County Court, Judge Franczyk was recognized in 2010 by the Bar Association of Erie County with its own Outstanding Jurist Award.
