Michael Higgins was a Clinical Instructor of Law and Staff Attorney at the Disability and Civil Rights Clinic at Brooklyn Law School. He directed students in civil litigation and policy advocacy to support the individual autonomy and self-determination of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The clinic provided services and advocacy focused on expanding due process in guardianship matters, access to healthcare, parental rights, prisoners’ rights, and education.
Higgins has worked as a civil legal services attorney in Pennsylvania, New York City and Rochester, New York. He represented individuals in a diverse array of civil matters including housing, domestic violence, public benefits, education, and consumer matters.
