How would you describe your experience?

Working alongside dedicated professionals in the field of law enforcement and justice this summer has been nothing short of transformative. From day one, I immersed myself in the intricacies of legal research and writing, tackling complex cases and gaining invaluable insights into the workings of our legal system. I spent most of my days working on a lot of evidence, which was very hands on and interesting. The opportunity to contribute to such meaningful work has been incredibly rewarding. Each day presented new challenges that pushed me to grow both professionally and personally. I've come away with a deeper understanding of the importance of thorough investigation, documentation, and most importantly- the pursuit of justice for all.

What impacted you the most?

Several aspects of this experience left a profound impact on me. First, the exposure to real-world homicide cases gave me a firsthand understanding of the complexities and gravity involved in criminal investigations and prosecutions. It was eye-opening to see how much time and work goes into these investigations.

Second, the mentorship and guidance from seasoned professionals were invaluable. Their expertise and dedication not only enhanced my skills but also inspired me to strive for excellence in my future career pursuits within the legal field. The support of all the Assistant District Attorneys  and their willingness to share their expertise have inspired me to continue pursuing a career in law with a focus on criminal justice, most specifically, a career as a prosecutor.

Finally, the sense of fulfillment from contributing to meaningful work was unparalleled. Homicide is a unique field, because you are unable to speak with the victim/complainant. Instead, the families and witnesses are whom you communicate with most. Knowing that my efforts could potentially bring closure to victims' families and ensure accountability resonated deeply with me and reinforced my passion for law and justice. Overall, my internship at the District Attorney's Office was a transformative experience that solidified my commitment to pursuing a career as a prosecutor.
