Fran and Cindy Letro Fellowship
Organization: U.S. Army JAG Corps 1L Summer Internship
My experience this summer was very informative and beneficial. The Army JAG Corps practices in several different areas of the law and acts as its own self-sufficient world, so it was nice to gain the large legal exposure I did as a 1L. I spent the majority of my time working in the military justice department at Fort Bliss, but I also spent a significant amount of time in administrative law, legal assistance, and with the Special Victim's Counsel. Each department offered unique tasks and challenges, and it was nice to gain the exposure I did so early on in my career.
The team environment impacted me the most. It is unique to see a workforce that truly cares about one another as much as the judge advocates do. They go above and beyond to support one another at work and in everyday life. The supportive environment they foster helps them handle, and thrive, in the high-stress environment they work in. I am grateful to have experienced the Army JAG Corps' supportive and driven environment this summer.
Thank you so much to Fran and Cindy Letro for your support! Your fellowship allowed me to pursue my employment in El Paso and gain invaluable experience for my legal foundation. The support you provided allowed me to focus more on learning and working and less on the financial stresses that students experience.
