Fran and Cindy Letro Fellowship
Organization: Hon. James Bargnesi, Erie County Court, Buffalo, NY
This summer, I had the privilege of interning at Erie County Court for the Hon. Judge Bargnesi. The experience was both enriching and enlightening as I had the chance to observe a wide range of court proceedings, including trials, court conferences, plea negotiations, and sentencings. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work on various research and writing projects, allowing me to apply and enhance my legal skills in a practical setting. This internship was a great experience that significantly deepened my understanding of the law and the inner workings of the courtroom.
The most impactful experience during my internship was witnessing a trial from start to finish, from jury selection to the final verdict. Observing the judicial process in its entirety provided me with invaluable insights into the complexities of the legal system and its profound impact on the lives of the individuals involved. It was an extremely rewarding experience that reinforced my desire to work closely with the Buffalo community and my passion for public interest work. This experience has further solidified my commitment to pursuing a career where I can contribute meaningfully to my community and advocate for those who need it most.
The funding I have received from the Fran and Cindy Letro Fellowship has been invaluable to me as it has allowed me to pursue an opportunity I would otherwise not have been able to. It has provided me with the ability to work in the public interest field here in Buffalo, which is my greatest passion. It is an honor to have been chosen to receive this funding and I owe much to UB and all those that support the University. I would not be where I am today without the important work of Law School Donors like you. Thank you for your long-continued support of UB Law students.
